How to join us?

For students interested in joining our lab and pursuing a Ph.D. candidature: 
Given the number of PhD students applying to CUHK’s Faculty of Education, the competition is quite intense. The following general guidelines will ensure a higher success rate: 

1. Having an undergraduate degree from a top university with excellent marks

-Top in international rankings (QS/THE rankings)
-Nationally-recognized (C9, 985, 211 universities)
-Ranked top in your own country 

2. Having a master’s degree from a top university with excellent marks

-Top in international rankings (QS/THE rankings)
-Nationally-recognized (C9, 985, 211 universities)
-Ranked top in your own country 

3. Successful publication track record preferably in SSCI-indexed journals. 

You also need to have research questions relevant to our aims as a lab, and could cover some of the key topics below: 

  • motivation
  • well-being
  • socio-emotional learning
  • positive psychology/education 
  • culture and socio-cultural approaches to motivation and well-being
